What are your candles made of?
All Koselig candles are handcrafted in small batches with 100% natural soy wax derived from U.S. grown soy beans, flat cotton wicks, and high quality fragrance oils infused with essential oils giving you a clean burning and wonderfully smelling candle.
How do I prevent wax build up on the sides of the jar?
Make sure you burn your candle for 3-4 hours for the first burn to set the "burn pattern" and ensure the melt pool reaches the edge of the jar. Try to do this with each burn after. Don't worry if you can't every time, chances are you'll get the edges with an extended burn in the future.
Why is there soot on the sides of the jar?
While all of our candles are produced with 100% natural soy wax and all cotton wicks, soot is greatly reduced but still inevitable at times. You can combat this by trimming the wick to a 1/4" before each burn with a pair of scissors or gently breaking off the mushrooming on the wick and disposing of the WICK shrapnel before lighting.
What should I do with my jar when I've burned all the wax?
Repurpose! You can either recycle your jar or use it in a creative way. Please do not throw your jar away. You can clean the remaining wax out by heating the jar up slightly and running a paper towel through to get the remnants. You can also put the jar in the freezer and chip out the hardened wax. It wouldn't hurt to give the jar a rubbing alcohol wipe down or throw it in the dishwasher before use.
